ECONOMYBulgarians rally against fuel price hikePublished 2 hours agoon November 5, 2018By Makfax
Protests were staged over the weekend in several cities in Bulgaria against rising fuel prices, Radio BNR reported.
Around 200 demonstrators blocked the road linking Bulgaria and Greece at the country’s southwest. Scores of black flag-waiving demonstrators had gathered outside several petrol stations in other parts of the country.
The price of fuel will depend on the US sanctions on Iran, due on Monday, analysts have said, noting that energy sector will be affected. Oil price in EU member-states upped by 5 percent from August to October.
Demonstrators claim the price of fuel – 1.2 euros per liter diesel and 1.9 euros per liter gasoline – are not in line with the national average monthly wage of 575 euros.
